Shubhada Subramanyam began learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 5 under the able guidance of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy.
With a continuous and regular practice,Shubhada successfully completed all levels – i.e Junior, Senior and Vidwat grade examinations (Master Degree equivalent) conducted by the Government of Karnataka, India.
Shubhada is also a scholarship recipient of the Government of Karnataka. Shubhada, who has been associated with her guru and dance for over 30 years, has been performing since childhood and has participated in various dance festivals throughout India. She has also participated in various dance dramas choreographed by her teacher.
Shubhada believes that it is not only the dance, but also many other qualities such as dedication, determination, punctuality, sincerity and the attitude itself have influenced and shaped her through the long-term association with her teacher.
Shubhada hopes to follow her teacher’s footsteps and achieve the standards she sets. Shubhada practices and teaches the “Vasundhara Bani” style of Bharatanatyam, which is an evolution happened over five decades, and passed on to three generation of dancers worldwide.It has its roots in the “Pandanallur Bani”.
